Regional Information

With classic landscapes, wonderful art cities and world famous wines The Trentino-Alto Adige region of Italy is the least Italian of them all. Its northern frontier is high in the Alps and Dolomite mountains, bordering Switzerland and Austria.
The region's mountains have been cut by glaciers into a series of deep, broad valleys. Many of these face south, so it remains exceptionally warm and sunny, even in the winter.
First time visitors will be surprised with some of the local specialties, which share from both German and northern Italian traditions. The mild climate allows for abundant fruit and vegetable growing areas, especially apples, chestnuts and asparagus. Mushrooms, both wild and cultivated are very popular and the rivers provide the whole region with fresh trout.
Trentino-Alton-Adige is a region where unspoiled nature is complemented by a wealth of sporting opportunities. The tributary valleys feeding into the Adige valley contain lakes, rivers and streams. Also woodland, vineyards and an alpine pasture of butterflies, birds and flowers can also be found.
